Middle Island& the Breakwater
Visit the iconic middle island and spot the famous Maremma guard dogs protecting our little penguins from foxes. To get up close and personal, organise a tour through Flagstaff Hill Maritime museum to discover the real 'Oddball' story.
Stroll along the breakwater and order a coffee at the Pavillion cafe. Spot Sammy the seal begging for fish from the jetty or take your rods and throw a line in.
Jumpig off the breakwater into the cool water is a Warrnamboolian rite of passage and a must if you are here in the warmer weather.
Hopkins Falls
Visit some of the widest waterfalls in the southern hemisphere at Hopkins falls, just a short drive from High View.
You can walk to the bottom or enjoy their majesty from the viewing platforms at the top. Definitely worth the trip after heavy rains during the winter months.

Whale Watching
Winter time in Warrnambool welcomes the Southern Wright Whales who are usually found off the Logans Beach viewing platfom from June - October.
In a good year you might spot a number of females and their calves in the bay which they use as a nursery before heading back out to sea.
Local social media sites inform visitors of daily sightings, and the viewing platform is a beautiful spot to watch the ocean in anticipation of a blow plume.
Port Fairy
A very picturesque town only a short drive from High View. The fishing boat wharf makes a lovely walk, and continues on around Griffith Island to the lighthouse.
Port Fairy enjoys some magnificent beaches popular for swimming, surfing and snorkelling/ diving.
The town boasts a luxurious day spa, the famous Rebecca's cafe and lots of unique clothing boutiques as well as the magnificent Time and Tide tea rooms which specializes in decadent afternoon teas.
One of the best kids adventure playgrounds you will find. There a re multiple playzones, a zipline as well as powered and pedello boating on the lakes.
During summer the area is alive with activities including night markets, open air cinema, music events the summer carnival.
In winter its a great spot for a BBQ, a walk around the lakes or the Sunday fresh Markets to grab some delicious local produce.
Tower Hill Nature Reserve
One of our very favourite local attractions, Tower Hill is the site of an extinct volcano and is a very short drive from High View. Now a nature reserve it will take your breath away as you drive down to the heart of the crater with beautiful wattle and native she-oak trees blanketing it's slopes.
Tower Hill is a great spot for viewing wildlife with emu's always on show, plus plenty of koalas, wallaby's and kangaroos. There's a visitor centre and lots of walks to enjoy plus BBQ facilities.

Beaches
Southwest Victoria has arguably some of the best beaches in Australia. For summer beach fun there are plenty to choose from all within a very short drive of your accomodation.
Some of our favourites include Stingray Bay, Killarney and Pea Soup. Just ask for directions and we'll be happy to show you the way.
We are lucky enough to have the rail trail go right past our front gate. The trail is great for walking or cycling and can take you all the way to Warrnambool through Kellys swamp wetlands or to Port Fairy through farmland and around Koroit. Bring your bikes for an epic adventure that starts right at our front gates.
